Kicking Off the Sarah Dessen Challenge with JUST LISTEN

Just Listen

Title: Just Listen
Author: Sarah Dessen
Publisher: Penguin Group
Release Date:  April 6th, 2006
Last year, Annabel was "the girl who has everything"—at least that's the part she played in the television commercial for Kopf's Department Store. This year, she's the girl who has nothing: no best friend because mean-but-exciting Sophie dropped her, no peace at home since her older sister became anorexic, and no one to sit with at lunch. Until she meets Owen Armstrong.

Tall, dark, and music-obsessed, Owen is a reformed bad boy with a commitment to truth-telling. With Owen's help, maybe Annabel can face what happened the night she and Sophie stopped being friends.

Hey guys!

Thanks again for participating in this challenge. It’s been forever since I’ve read JUST LISTEN, and I’m excited to dive back in again.

If you’ve already read it, what did you think? If you’re rereading, are you excited to give it another go? If it’s your first time, what are your initial thoughts going in? I’m excited to hear your feedback as I’m a huge SD fangirl.

Can we take a moment to remember that this happened?

Haha. Enjoy kicking off the Sarah Dessen Challenge with JUST LISTEN! I’ll have another post at the end of the month where we can all come and share thoughts and talk about what we enjoyed the most. (If you’re not reading JUST LISTEN, that’s okay! Come share your thoughts on what Sarah Dessen book you read and enjoyed—as long as it’s spoiler free!)

I haven't read anything by Sarah Dessen (yes, I know) so I'm really exciting to read Just listen. I've heard it was good so I can't wait to read it and have a discussion with you at the end of the month :)

Well, I have Farrah to thank for reading this one :) I'm sure I would have gotten to it eventually, but it was so sweet when you sent it to me! Thank you again!

I posted my review for it back in 2011, but here it is again: Just Listen.

Ahh, I can't wait to talk about Just Listen with everyone! I re-read it over the past couple days, and there was so much more going on than I'd remembered. Sarah Dessen really is the Queen of Contemporary YA, no question.
